On hearing the good news, Zheng Yanliang excitedly picked up his phone to call and congratulate him. Then with a second thought, he considered that Luo Yang's phone would have been ringing off the hook at that time, and for the time he decided to wait.
He would have never expected that this was his last chance to get through to Luo Yang. On the morning of the 26th of November, Zheng Yanliang turned on the television as part of his morning routine, and saw on the screen a black framed portrait of Luo Yang.It took him a while to react. The familiar face and smile of his good student Luo Yang! How could he so suddenly be gone?Zheng Yanliang felt a deep wave of emotion spreading through his mind, and then a feeling of regret that he had never felt before. Why had he not called Luo Yang yesterday? Now and for an eternity, the chance to bid farewell will be forever gone!
Zheng couldn't sit still, and immediately he went searching for Cai Delin, the former Secretary of the General Party Branch together with instructor at the time Wang Xueren, the three white-haired men came together and reflected on Luo Yang's past. Together they proclaimed that the students at Beijing Aeronautics and Astronautics University had put their lives on the line, and counting the innumerable contributions that Luo Yang and his cohort had made for the cause of national defence, they allowed many feelings to well up and lamented with sorrow.
During that time, they drew up this letter of condolence to send to Shenyang Corporation:
You were aspired to devote your thirty years of life to our mother nation's future in aviation;
You created the first ever carrier-based aircraft in the history oflour nation;
You are a model of self contribution to generations of aspired students.
Luo Yang, you are the student that made all of us proud!
Your teachers and friends from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics
Cai Delin, Wang Xueren, Zheng Yanliang
In the original draft they had also included the sentence—“Luo Yang, you are the student we care for most.”The three thought for a while on this point, and considered that this sentence may upset his family and many others and so before they sent out the final version they deleted it.
On the 26th, various media reporters visited the university, hoping to dig up stories of Luo Yang's as a young student.
Zheng Yanliang told them again and again that Luo Yang had studied in the 1978 Number 5 class, specializing in high altitude equipment, in classroom 8551. Amongst the class of 30 students, one of whom died of illness during that time, the oldest was 31 and the youngest 16 years old.Entering the school that year, Luo Yang was younger than the average student, having only just turned 17.
1978 marked the second cohort of students to sit the College Entrance Examinations after the Cultural Revolution ended, and students of all ages were attending, with some students in the same classes having age gaps of over a decade, a delay roughly corresponding to the time displaced by the Cultural Revolution. The 1978 College Entrance Examination revision period was more than six months longer than the 1977 timeframe, and therefore their class had seven or so more 16 to 17-year-old students attending.
In the fourth year of university, Luo Yang's class would enlist Party positions for four students. At the time, if three or four students were to be enlisted in his cohort, it would be likely that Luo Yang would also miss the opportunity due to his too young age, and besides that there were many other fellow students of his that would be applying to join the Party. As school-based Party activities at that time where relatively restricted, he had no wish to enter the Party at that time.
Zheng Yanliang said,“Luo Yang was an ordinary student, and only a member of the class sporting club. He did not enlist as a student Party member, nor as a class monitor or Communist Youth League Branch Secretary, and in the classroom he was thought of as a little brother.”
Luo Yang's head teacher Li Min pulled out for me her collection for 30 years of Teacher Workbook and Graduation Autograph Album. On the cover page of the Graduation Autograph Album was Teaching and Research Room 505 Director Zhu Dongming and Li Min's joint inscription:“In the next 10,20 or 30 years and beyond, we hope you to rejuvenate China, realize the four standardizations and build a success!”
Li Min said,“Luo Yang was chosen by the heavens. The gods believed that this man could endure more than others, and could carry a heavier load.”
Faced with a barrage of questions from reporters, many of the teachers on that day found themselves caught up by emotional feelings, and as the words rushed out, they would often say such deep things before deliberating on them.
Afterwards, Zheng Yanliang's thought carefully as a sinking feeling came over him. He considered very carefully:How could Luo Yang, an“average”student later bloom with such radiance?
“That year we were determined to resume the direct recruitment of high school students to stop the recommendation by the masses. Directly recruiting from high school, I could see that we would find the talent earlier, and find early ways to successfully develop.”On August 6th,1977,during the the National Symposium on Science and Education, Deng Xiaoping boldly re-established order from chaos, re-opening the Chinese college entrance examinations that have been stopped for over a decade.
During the period between the Winter of 1977 and Summer of 1978,a total of 11. 6 million people participated in the college entrance examination, and like the Tide of the Qiantang River in August, they flocked as a mighty wave through the gates of colleges and universities. At the time it was considered the world's largest entrance examination.
Luo Yang was the lucky, one of the 11. 6 million to participate in the rush.
On the 29th of June 1961,Luo Yang was born into a revolutionary military family during a three-year period when the Republic of China was facing numerous problems, and the lives of common folk were shrouded in poverty.
His parents named him Luo Yang in the hope that he would walk in the light of sunny roads, and himself would grow into the full glow of the sun, as the meaning in the name implied.
Luo Yang's father Luo Ge joined the army during the War of Liberation, and after liberation he worked in the military academies. He was rigorous and meticulous at work and also decent and helpful. His mother, Wu Chuanying was a high school mathematics teacher.Luo Yang had an older sister who was a school leaver.
Growing up in this family, Luo Yang received a good education. He held good habits, enjoying the process of thinking things through and always paid attention to logical reasoning.Watching another young boy playing with a scooter when he was young, Luo Yang not only made one himself, but also fitted it out with a steering wheel and training wheels, which allowed for the little scooter to quickly change directions. The other young boys were amazed by his invention.
When he was a little older, he learned how to put parts together and build a radio under the instruction of his father. When the sound of China National Radio came through the wireless, the entire family was overjoyed.
In school, Luo Yang had a solid understanding for physics and chemistry, and was the top student in the class. Many people thought he was benefiting as the son of the math teacher and often received any“special treatment”.Wu Chuanying said,“This is not true.In fact I was very busy, and would come home from work every day, and have to cook and do housework for a large family, essentially having no time to give my children private lessons.”
Thus, Luo Yang was a model son and a well behaved young boy, with a humble and tolerant nature and a friendly disposition and would often find playmates together with boys and girls. The nature of his close friendships allowed the adult Luo Yang to work so well amongst his colleagues, and those working alongside him would feel both happy and at ease.
Some recently disseminated articles had said that Luo Yang graduated from high school to apply for Beijing University of Aerospace and Astronautics, and that he was always determined to“serve as a national aviation personnel”. This statement is a bit exaggerated.During his life, Luo Yang recalled in one interview,“When I filled in the entrance sheet for admission to Beijing University of Aerospace and Astronautics, in fact I did not really understand much, and at the beginning I thought I was going to be flying the planes!”
“When the admission notice was sent back I finally understood, aha!the university is engaging in aircraft design! So, I went into the industry, and it was very interesting.”This is the more approximate version of Luo Yang's“serve as a national aviation personnel”comment.
“Patriotism, dedication, pioneering, inclusive development and resourcefulness”was not only the motto of Beijing University of Aerospace and Astronautics, but also captured its sprit.
“No one enters the industry of aeronautics for fame. If you want its fame, choose another industry!”This is the famous motto said by Wang Jun, Luo Yang's graduate design instructor whom later on was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
The motto of the university encourages and excites students, and with the hope that every student would be forged into a top national talent, teachers spreading their wings in the pursuit of knowledge and ideals so that the students may fly higher and further into the blue sky. Luo Yang did live up to the expectations of both his old school and his mentors.
Teacher Li Min recalled,“Even now I still clearly remember Luo Yang's appearance when he first came here:a tall and thin boy, wearing glasses, dressed in a washed white military uniform;he was simple, practical, and kept a low profile. He would always be very polite when others spoke, and listen carefully when somebody was presenting on a stage. As others would laugh loudly, he would just smile quietly to himself.”
When this cohort of students started, they showed an unprecedented enthusiasm to learn. The teachers of Class 505 were also full oftenthusiasm, picking back up after from many years of neglected knowledge and technology, and investing their entire selves into education. At that time, a popular phrase was‘Don't leave your comrades behind',and students would care for and protect one another lilie brothers and sisters.Within the class, one of the students was afflicted with an incurable condition of the brain and hospitalized, and all of the males within the class paired up and took turns one after each other to visit the hospital. In addition to this, in order to prevent infection each of the students would have to take medicine.
“After several months, no student had complained, and by note-taking and attending extra classes, they did not miss a single lesson. Later, the student fell seriously ill and passed away, and in tears his uncle said to the leaders and students of the Department,‘The last of my nephew's life was spent in a very warm group, thank you all!Thank you, students!'Luo Yang spent his university years in this atmosphere, and in the minds of students and teachers alike he was a radiant student, willing to learn, in good health and a typical boy.”
Li Zhaojian, an officer of the Armament Department of the Peoples Liberation Army was a good friend of Luo Yang at that time, and he remembered,“At that time, Luo Yang and myself lived together in the student dorms of Room Number 432,Building 16. At that time, the two of us were always together, just like close brothers. We loved to wear military uniform.Luo Yang used to wear the old military outfit of his father, and my mother sewed one together for me.When Luo Yang had just entered into the school, his results were in the middle and were nothing special, but very quickly he was amongst the top five in the cohort, all the way until he graduated.
We would think to ourselves in admiration,‘this guy is good, he is strong and tough.'At that time, we were obsessed with learning, and Luo Yang was even more serious. If he could not find the solution to a problem, he would not give it up, and the problem would often lead us to much theoretical debate, and from the perspective of people that did not know us, it must have looked like we were always arguing.Yet Luo Yang would not grow impatient, and would not allow himself to get stuck at a dead end.At that time nobody had much money, just a savings to buy reference books, so we would often go to Wudaokou bookstore.I remember that we went several times to buy soviet mathematician Boris Demidovich's Mathematical Analysis of Questions.”
During the winter holiday that year, Luo Yang arranged with Li Zhaojian to stay at school and study instead of returning home for the Chinese New Year.
On the Chinese New Year Eve, the two of them arrived early in the day to the school amphitheatre, and worked and read late into the night.
That night Communist, Youth League Branch Secretary Zheng Yanliang was on duty, and seeing lights in the amphitheater after 11pm, he went there to have a look.
On seeing the two students working so hard, Zheng asked with concern,“Its so late, and on New Years Eve too!Are you two going to relax?”
Li Zhaojian looked at his watch, and said,“Wow, almost 12.”
“Little Luo, not returning home for the New Year?”Zheng Yanliang asked.
“I went back for the Summer holiday, so I am planning to use the Winter holiday to study a bit more,”Luo Yang said with a small smile.
“And you?”Zheng asked to Li Zhaojian.
“My home is in Ningde, Fujian province. Its a long journey, and the tickets are expensive and hard to buy, so I thought I might as well just stay here.”
Zheng Yanliang said gently,“You two students are so dedicated to your studies!”
Luo Yang said,“Our class has a few mature aged students over the age of 30,and they are also working hard. Everybody is cherishing this opportunity to study very preciously.”
Zheng Yanliang nodded, saying,“Our class represents the future aviators of the nation. To make a difference in the near future, and to be an expert aviation personnel, there is so much to study. Moreover, during your undergraduate level you are building the most critical fundamentals.Once you have the fundamentals, you can use them for a lifetime.”
Suddenly, Zheng Yanliang asked,“Oh, have you both had dumplings tonight?”
“We were late for the dinning hall, and all of the dumplings had been bought, so we had some noodles.”Luo Yang replied earnestly.
Zheng Yanliang fretted,“Its the Northern tradition, you can't miss out on dumplings for New Years Eve!Let's go boys, come and have some dumplings at my place!”
Luo Yang quickly raised his hand,“No no, Teacher Zheng. It is late at night;we don't want to intrude.”“Come along, come along!”Zheng Yanliang said as he politely took hold of them both and dragged them towards his home, then serving each a plate of dumplings.
After many years, Luo Yang still remembered the kindness of Teacher Zheng, and would always say,“That New Years Eve at Teacher Zheng's house I ate the best leek stuffed dumplings ever!”
The current Chairman of China Aviation Industry Corporation Limited, Fang Yufeng was Luo Yang's classmate and the class commissary in charge of studies. Recalling that time in school, Fang Yufeng said,“At that time, the atmosphere of the school was very positive, and the atmosphere for learning was palpable. As the university had been closed for over a decade, opening up the main gates again gave everybody a feeling of being on a mission, and we all thought that to study hard and grasp more knowledge would serve the nation well. After 1981,dancing grew popular amongst some of the schools along with weekend dancing events. We, however stuck to our ways, only knew to bury our heads in books.Having said that, we didn't go overboard on just book study. At at the time, in the pursuit of truth we had some great debates too.”
After dinner one day, Luo Yang went to find Fang Yufeng, and said mysteriously to him,“Lets go, I have something good!”Fang Yufeng asked with intrigue,“What would that be?”Luo Yang took two tickets from his pocket, and waved them in front of Fang Yufeng's eyes, saying,“Film reference!”
As the reform and opening up period opened the gates to the university, so too did it begin to allow access to some of the internal government reference materials, as well as foreign stories and foreign educational films. As these were still under regulation, it was often very difficult to get a ticket.
As soon as Fang Yufeng heard“film reference”,he grew excited,“Which one?Who gave you tickets?”
Luo Yang replied,“Teacher Zheng was busy now, so he gave me the tickets. I don't actually know what the showing will be about.”
Luo Yang and Fang Yufeng ran together along the road to the Staff and Worker's Club, and entered the viewing area just as the movie started.
The movie was documenting the history of American astronauts on the moon. The images were wonderful, with a plot full of twists and turns, and Luo Yang and Fang Yufeng found themselves holding their breaths during many moments.
On the 16th of July,1969,three American astronauts stepped onboard the Apollo-11 spacecraft, and after a long flight into lunar orbit, two of the astronauts rode in the“Eagle”lunar module as it landed on the face of the moon, beginning the first chapter of lunar activities for mankind.
Captain Armstrong took the first steps off the lunar lander platform, and facing the strange world of the moon, he gazed out for a few minutes, then moved his right foot, and took three steps down the ladder. The ladder was five meters high with nine steps, and it took him three full minutes to descend! Then, his left foot gingerly touched the lunar surface, with the right one still on the stairs. After keeping his right foot on the surface for a while, he bravely bought his left foot down.It was at this moment that he spoke the words:“That was one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”After 18 minutes, astronaut Buzz Aldrin also set foot on the lunar surface.Dressed in spacesuits, jumping, and swimming through space over the lunar surface, they shot scenery of the lunar surface, collected lunar rocks and soil, placed down some equipment and conducted experiments to send back to ground control for data analysis.
After completing the various tasks, the two astronauts again boarded the lunar lander, lifted off the lunar surface and back into orbit to rendezvous with Colin in the lunar command module by docking back together. Once docked, the three astronauts in the rejoined capsules return to Earth, splashing down in the Pacific Ocean.
The entire flight history took 8 days,3 hours and 18 minutes, and the moon landing was 21 hours and 18 minutes. Although the time was short, it was a historic feat. The astronauts left a“monument plaque”on the moon surface, engraved in English,“Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon July 1969,A.D.We came in peace for all mankind.”
After the movie finished, Luo Yang and Fang Yufeng were unable to calm down from the excitement for a long time, and walked together around the lotus lake of the campus near the garden, recalling and relishing the talk of the movie they had just seen.
Fang Yufeng emotionally proclaimed,“The Americans are just too good, landing on the moon! They have reached perfection, through the strength of their economy, alongside a firm grasp of high technology!”
“Too right!”agreed Luo Yang,“Americans landed on the moon in 1969,14 years ago. At that time, what were we Chinese doing? We were still undergoing the Cultural Revolution, with its‘right to rebel, right to the revolution',‘smash the capitalist sympathizers'and more absurd still were the propaganda theories, like the‘with a Chinese satellite in space, red flags will fall to earth'.Well the Americans have satellites in space and have landed on the moon, and I don't see theirs stars and Stripes falling to earth!”
Fang Yufeng thought deeply on this, and after a long while he suddenly said whilst sounding melancholy,“Comparing our astronauts with the west, we are 108,000 li, behind. More precisely, we have fallen too far behind.”
“As far as us students are concerned, we shouldn't talk of such huge things now. First, we do well in school.Once we finish school we can start to build the fundamentals, and then there will be time to catch up and then surpass everyone else!”Luo Yang spoke with confidence, as if to instil energy as he spoke.
That night, both of the young men were very excited, and stayed up chatting till very late.
The famous universities in Beijing are known for their own area of sporting expertise. Peking University has track and field athletics, Tsinghua has basketball, and Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics(BUAA)is known for its volleyball.During the 1950s and 60s, BUAA had a strong volleyball team that went on to represent the nation in international tournaments, fighting valiantly and producing magnificent victories. At BUAA there were not only departmental teams, each faculty, year level and even class level had their own volleyball teams.
As the class commissary in charge of sports, Luo Yang set up a volleyball team at the class level not long after he entered university. Jiang Zhigang, Chen Zhen, Fang Yufeng, Yao Gang and Luo Yang alongside other students, all of whom were over 1.8 meters tall formed a team.Although Luo Yang was tall, he was in fact better at athletics and basketball and at the beginning he was comparatively weak at volleyball game.Once setting up the class team, Luo Yang's toughness quickly came to the fore, and he devoted all of his extra-curricular time to training.Starting with a padded ball, he worked the pass and then the smash. After a year of hard training, Luo Yang had moved from a regular class team member to an excellent setter.
Later on, Luo Yang's volleyball team first took the class championship, and then became known as the top team amongst all departments. Luo Yang's department heads were all very happy, with their volleyball team as number one, and set up a special departmental volleyball team to participate in the school volleyball tournament. At that time, student cultural life was relatively simple, and every volleyball game would become a students'festival, and those not playing would join as cheerleaders.Shouts of“come on!”could be heard resounding through the campus.
Volleyball is a team sport, and requires attention to organization, teamwork and unity. It also plays a positive role in developing good class cohesion and improving the students collective sense of honor. After graduation, many students brought their interests in volleyball along with them;shortly after arriving at Chengdu Aircraft Corporation, Jiang Zhigang established a BUAA graduates volleyball team, and competed together with good results. After arriving at Shenyang Corporation, Luo Yang also participated in the corporation's volleyball team, playing as the spiker. Many of the older workers at Shenyang can now still remember Luo Yang'tall frame as he moved about on the courts.
In addition to volleyball, the school and departments organized basketball and other sport games, and winter sports such as cross-country race. Whilst organizing these events, Luo Yang found it also an excellent training opportunity.
During that time, the students from BUAA and in fact all of China would never forget one day;the 16th of November in 1981.
On that night, the Chinese women's volleyball team played with the Japanese women's volleyball team in Osaka, competing for the Third World Cup Women's Volleyball Tournament Championship. At that time, owning a television was a rarity and so after dinner Luo Yang and several other students moved the departments only television into the amphitheatre.
At 7:30 pm the referee's whistle blew.
The Chinese girls played with vigor and ferocity, and were soon close to success, having won the first two games with the score of 15:8 and 15:7. However with their backs against the wall, the tenacious style of the Japanese women's volleyball team allowed them to score again and again, pulling back to two games each. The key fifth match began, and as the two sides competed the tension was palpable. The Chinese women's volleyball team was initially down 0:4 and things were looking bad, but through hard work, they gradually caught back up.At 14:15,the Chinese team face a dangerous moment, though they kept their cool and went on fighting, as the“Iron Hammer”Lang Ping smashed the ball down, and the Chinese team finally won the deciding match, scored with 17:15.Three games to two.“We won!”“Long live our women's team!”“Long live China!”This was the first time that China had won in a major international sporting contest.BUAA is on fire!Beijing is on fire! The whole nation is on fire! Then, somebody called out,“Lets go on a campus march!”The students burst out of the amphitheatre, singing campus slogan, beating gongs, drums and even face wash basins in percussion and letting off firecrackers.Students cheered,“The Chinese women's volleyball team are masters!”“Unite and rejuvenate the Chinese nation!”“Rise and study for the Chinese nation!”With much passion and energy, they carried on late into the night.
This was an important era, and the Chinese people needed to stand up and prove to the world that this generation of China was strong. The success of China's women's volleyball, and ensuing confidence pulled China back from the shadow of the“Sick man of Asia”syndrome, and proved that the Chinese people had progressed.
It was an era that required spiritual assistance and nourishment, and there was an urgent desire to seek a new spiritual pillar. Through strength and fighting spirit, the Chinese women's volleyball team had defeated the“dominating”Japanese team and the mighty US team, and in doing so they had played a role in the rejuvenation of China.
During that time, the Chinese Reform and Opening-up period had just commenced, and the ideological liberation movement was in full swing. Patriotism and unprecedented enthusiasm had erupted like an active volcano;and victory by the Chinese women's volleyball team was a most appropriate vent for the eruption of excitement that followed.
For a time,“Return the volley of life with a smash!”and“Invigorating the Chinese nation with the four modernizations,”alongside acknowledgements of the women's volleyball, girls indomitable fighting spirit were seen as fluttering banners across the nation to inspire the youth.
Later, Luo Yang mentioned on many occasions that whilst in the university he learned not only knowledge, but more importantly he was nourished with an indomitable fighting spirit and patriotism that would last him a lifetime.
30 years later, in August of 2012 the anniversary party for the graduating class of BUAA's Department of High-Altitude Equipment was being thrown. The setting was informal and intimate, but still full of vigor and energy.During the party, many drank heartily, and tears were shed too.
When two famale classmates then arrived, someone quipped to them,“Back then, we were honest and naive, and only knew how to bury our heads in books, and didn't even think to fall in love with the beautiful girls around us such you yourselves! We left the best flowers to be picked right before our eyes, hah!”
Luo Yang had been attending a meeting in Xi'an, and rushed in late as the dinner was nearing completion. The old class monitor, Yao Gang said,“Luo Yang, you are late! Now you must drink up for your tardiness!”
Luo Yang even drink three glasses of wine, saying apologetically,“Drink up, Drink up!”
The teachers and student's forum was held the next morning, as a time for the classroom teachers, Communist Youth League Branch secretary, instructor, and head teacher to come together.
As the meeting was about to begin, people were asking quietly,“Where is Luo Yang? How could he have disappeared?”
Qi Jianxin, the Vice General Manager of Shenyang Corporation, said,“He had to go back to Shenyang early in the morning due to an important meeting he has to preside over in the afternoon.”
Others said,“What does Luo Yang do these days?He seems very, very busy.”
Qi Jianxin said,“We all may know that he builds aircrafts, but I can not say more specifically.”
During the meeting, Fang Yufeng gave the first speech,“Graduating in 1982,we left our alma mater, and now we must farewell our younger selves. In those years of youth, we were young and in our prime. Now we have entered middle age.I carefully thought about our experience. Our class had 29 students, and after 30 years of hard work, all of you have successful careers.I realized that the desire for careers had begun at the university.None of us went abroad to live, and none of us have landed ourselves in trouble. Our class had 11 students promoted to bureau level leader, and one student promoted as a vice-ministerial level leader. So let's see if we can learn by looking at our‘class 8551 phenomenon',shall we?”
Teacher Zheng Yanliang continued,“The‘8551 phenomenon'is indeed worth a good look. Yesterday I received a notice inviting me to your party here today, and on taking it I remembered the history of your times at school. The National Science Conference was convened shortly before you entered school, and the spring of science was bolding walking forwards. The whole country was working to construct the four modernizations, and working for the rejuvenation of China.Your department also attached great importance to the comprehensive growth of students.”
I remember that at that time, teacher Cai Delin, the Party Branch Deputy Secretary and Head of Student Activities came and personally gave Party lectures, spoke on ideals, and talked about dedication;inviting academic leaders to hold lectures, allowing students to ask questions on How We May Exist, How We May Act and How We May Learn. Professor Lu Shijia, the founder of modern hydrodynamics and a close disciple of Prandtl came to discuss with students on‘self-learning, self-reliance, and self-fortification'.
“A good foundation was laid by these efforts to build strong ideals and to advance to a society that has considered existence, action and study. As a life-long teacher, I do believe that the undergraduate four years are the most crucial time to guide a person onto the road for success. The knowledge, ability and spirit learnt during those years, as well as the ability to conduct oneself is used as a strong basis for the future decisions and fundamental aspects of a person.”
Teacher Li Min then said,“This class makes me think of two words. The first is‘morale',the second‘energy'.‘Morale'is due to the positive morale that your cohort displayed. The 1980's was a time full of idealism.Teachers were indifferent to fame and fortune, but were hell bent on educating students!Your cohort displayed great morale, with each individual pursuing improvement, and a dedicated atmosphere towards teaching.Nothing would distract you, and as an educator I felt much piece of mind.‘Energy',because you would realize your objectives through hard work and a fighting spirit, fully reflected in yourselves.Today, each of you have reaped the rewards, exactly due to the fact that you all committed the maximum amount oftenergy to your work!”
The current Deputy Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission Jiang Zhigang next spoke to the old classmates, starting with the metaphor:“Bringing this group of students together is like gathering a big fire, and then as it went out you scattered as embers, like a night sky full of stars!”
“Gathering as a fire, and dispersing as the stars!”
Luo Yang was one of those stars!
