1.I have a friend named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Sedro. He has let me use his house to put on fund-raising events to raise money for youth at risk programs.
2.The last time I was there he introduced me by saying， “I want to tell you why I let Jack use my house. It all goes back to a story about a young man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable to stable， race track to race track， farm to farm and ranch to ranch， training horses. As a result， the boy’s high school career was continually interrupted. When he was a senior， he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.”
3.“That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of owning a horse ranch someday. He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200-acre ranch， showing the location of all the buildings， the stables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4，000-square-foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch.
4.“He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On the front page was a large red F with a note that read， ‘See me after class.’
5.“The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked， ‘Why did I receive an F？’
6.“The teacher said， ‘this is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you. You have no money. You come from an itinerant family. You have no resources. Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You have to pay for the original breeding stock and later you’ll have to pay large stud fees. There’s no way you could ever do it.’ Then the teacher added， ‘If you will rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal， I will rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal， I will reconsider your grade.’
7.“The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. He asked his father what he should do. His father said， ‘Look， son， you have to make up your own mind on this However， I think it is a very important decision for you.’
8.“Finally， after sitting with it for a week， the boy turned in the same paper， making no changes at all. He stated， ‘You can keep the F and I’ll keep my dream.’”
9.Monty then turned to the assembled group and said， “I tell you this story because you are sitting in my 4，000-square-foot house in the middle of my 200-acre horse ranch. I still have that school paper framed over the fireplace.” He added， “The best part of the story is that two summers ago that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on my ranch for a week. When the teacher was leaving， he said， ‘Look， Monty， I can tell you this now. When I was your teacher， I was something of a dream stealer. During those years I stole a lot of kids’ dreams. Fortunately you had enough gumption not to give up on yours.’”
10.Don’t let anyone steal your dreams. Follow your heart， no matter what.

If The Dream Is Big Enough如果梦想足够强大
1.I used to watch her from my kitchen window； she seemed so small as she muscled her way through the crowd of boys on the playground. The school was across the street from our home and I would often watch the kids as they played during recess. A sea of children， and yet to me， she stood out from them all.
2.I remember the first day I saw her playing basketball. I watched in wonder as she ran circles around the other kids. She managed to shoot jump shots just over their heads and into the net. The boys always tried to stop her but no one could.
3.I began to notice her at other times， basketball in hand， playing alone. She would practice dribbling and shooting over and over again， sometimes until dark. One day I asked her why she practiced so much. She looked directly in my eyes and without a moment of hesitation she said， “I want to go to college. The only way I can go is if I get a scholarship. I like basketball. I decided that if I were good enough， I would get a scholarship. I am going to play college basketball. I want to be the best. My Daddy told me if the dream is big enough， the facts don’t count.” Then she smiled and ran towards the court to recap the routine I had seen over and over again.
4.Well， I had to give it to her—she was determined. I watched her through those junior high years and into high school. Every week， she led her varsity team to victory.
5.One day in her senior year， I saw her sitting in the grass， head cradled in her arms. I walked across the street and sat down in the cool grass beside her. Quietly I asked what was wrong. “Oh， nothing，” came a soft reply. “I am just too short.” The coach told her that at5’5”she would probably never get to play for a top ranked team—much less offered a scholarship—so she should stop dreaming about college.
6.She was heartbroken and I felt my own throat tighten as I sensed her disappointment. I asked her if she had talked to her dad about it yet. She lifted her head from her hands and told me that her father said those coaches were wrong. They just did not understand the power of a dream. He told her that if she really wanted to play for a good college， if she truly wanted a scholarship， that nothing could stop her except one thing — her own attitude. He told her again， “If the dream is big enough， the facts don’t count.”
7.The next year， as she and her team went to the Northern California Championship game， she was seen by a college recruiter. She was indeed offered a scholarship， a full ride， to a Division I， NCAA women’s basketball team. She was going to get the college education that she had dreamed of and worked toward for all those years.
8.It’s true： If the dream is big enough， the facts don’t count.

The Beginning 起点
1.In the beginning， all things are hopeful. We prepare ourselves to start anew. Though we may be intent on the magnificent journey ahead， all things are contained in the first moment： our optimism， our faith， our resolution， our innocence.
2.In order to start， we must make a decision. The decision is a commitment to daily self-cultivation. We must make a strong connection to our inner selves. Outside matters are superfluous. Alone and naked， we negotiate all of life’s travails. Therefore， we alone must make something of ourselves， transforming ourselves into the instruments for experiencing the deepest spiritual essence of life.
3.Once we make our decision， all things will come too us. Auspicious signs are not a superstition， but a confirmation. They are a response. It is said that if one chooses to pray to a rock with enough devotion， even that rock will come alive. In the same way， once we choose to commit ourselves to spiritual practice， even the mountains and valleys will reverberate to the sound of our decision.

Your Quiet Hunger你寂静的渴望
1.There lies in the heart of every man and woman a quiet hunger：a longing for an earth shaking significance. It can be heard in the quiet， most unedited times like when our head hits the pillow at night. As the pressures of the day fade away the voice catches our attention： “I was meant for more than this， there has got to be something more.”
2.Many people have learned to accept a life of quiet resignation， committed to maintaining the status-quo. But still， in the times we least expect it， we hear that distant call again： a call for meaning， purpose， passion， significance. It continues to haunt us， to stalk us， and as we try to silence it with reason and maturity we find that indeed， it is a fire within our bones and it will not yield.
3.Our suspicions are correct. There is a larger story and we have a role to play in it. It has been said that what a man does during his life shall echo throughout eternity.
4.If you are ready to find your purpose， find the voice. Go back to the places that you have heard it most clear. For some it comes in the early morning， before the cares of the day have drowned them out. For others it comes through music， or movies， or books， or it is found on a walk through the woods or on the side of a mountain.

Who We Are？ 我们是谁？
1.The only problem unconsciously assumed by all Chinese philosophers to be of any importance is： How shall we enjoy life， and who can best enjoy life？ No perfectionism， no straining after the unattainable， no postulating of he unknowable； but taking poor， modal human nature as it is， how shall we organize our life so that we can woke peacefully， endure nobly and live happily？
2.Who are we？ That is first question. It is a question almost impossible to answer. But we all agree with the busy self occupied in our daily activities is not quite the real self. We are quite sure we have lost something in the mere pursuit of living. When we watch a person running about looking for something in a field， the wise man can set a puzzle for all the spectator to solve： what has that person lost？ Some one thinks is a watch； another thinks it is a diamond brooch； and others will essay other guesses. After all the guesses have failed， the wise man who really doesn’t know what the person is seeking after， tells the company： “I’ll tell you. He has lost some breath.” And no one can deny that he is right. So we often forget our true self in the pursuit of living， like a bird forgetting its own danger in pursuit of a mantis which again forgets its own danger in pursuit of another.

Redefine Yourself重新界定你自己
1.How do you define yourself？ A mother， daughter，wife，friend，husband，son，teacher，student，lawyer，accountant，or any one a myriad different titles？ Or do you define yourself by others’ perception of you？ Do any of theses come close to your own knowledge， your personal experience of who you really are？
2.In your quiet moments， in times of inexplicable joy， have you had the overwhelming and yet clear and lucid feeling of total invincibility—a feeling that nothing can hold you down， that you CAN accomplish ANYTHING and everything if you put your mind to it？ Well， that feeling is not a random one.
3.What is it that gets in the way of your exquisite power？
4.Consider for a moment an iron bar that has magnetic power inherently in it. It will attract or repel things based on its own intrinsic magnetism. Over time， if this bar begins to rust， its power will begin to diminish. The oxidative damage from the environment that the magnet has not been able to resist will render it in effective， eventually. This in no way means the iron bar is not capable of its latent， original power. All it needs to do is shed its rust. Or， consider if you will， a light bulb that is lit， but covered with soot. As long as the soot remains， it will be unable to fulfill the very purpose it was meant to serve to radiate light.
5.According to ancient Vedic texts， this is in effect what happens to the human experience. The infinite power that is naturally present in each and every one of us by virtue of our own consciousness can be rendered ineffective if not tended to properly. The stress of our lifestyle， the pollution of our environment， and the collective stress of our world keeps us from functioning at our full potential.
6.But here are remedies： incorporate modalities in your lifestyle that effectively combat stress and help keep you eat， and what you use—both on yourself， and in your environment. Choose natural， organic products.
7.Live a life of kindness， compassion， and charity—it keeps you connected to your center， your source， that infinite reservoir within you that is your powerhouse.
8.Don’t judge people， or situations—approach each moment with the knowledge that it contains within it the potential of any number and any number of possibilities.
9.To connect with your real nature that is unbounded and invincible， practice yoga and meditation.
10.Once you are in touch with your true nature， then nothing is beyond your means—you are truly empowered. And THAT is an accurate definition of YOU！

Each Has A One-off Lifetime人就这么一辈子
1.Each has a one-off lifetime—that’s an adage often referred to by me as admonition to myself and advice to others. It sounds easy and simple but carries weight when one considers it seriously. It is able to turn me from cowardice to courage， from arrogance to modesty， from depression to activeness， and from sorrow to joy. It provides me with such flexibility to deal with all sorts of things that I regard it as a maxim， a sharp warning to sober me up.
2.A person can only live once. What he does in his lifetime isn’t brought about by his birth， nor carried away by his death. His life is as short as four seasons： sprouting in spring， thriving in summer， harvesting in autumn and storing in winter. When I have labored under worldly affairs I’ll remind myself of the adage and feel deeply struck by the fleeting of time and changing scenes of nature. I’ll put aside the mundane things at hand and care less about the current strife and competition. To my mind all troubles and worries， odd scores and personal feelings， all that seem irresolvable of unacceptable would disappear after the short span of scores of years. If that’s the case， what’s there that cannot be solved？
3.A person has only this life to live. You can actively make as much use of it as possible or face it with a detached state of mind. When you take things too hard and become unhappy， think of the adage and you’ll be relieved. When you are in low spirits， thing of it to cheer up. When you can enraged， think of it to calm down. When you are dissatisfied， think of it to acquire a grateful feeling. After all you’ve got your chance to live your life， you’re lucky enough. Surely you won’t waste this precious chance to lead your life in vain.

More Than A Picasso比毕加索还棒！
1.I was 18 years old—determined it was time to spread my wings，to set out on my own， to get my own place.
2.So，this particular art show was more fun than most. I looked around through my most critical eye for just the right piece to put in the new apartment I was going to rent.
3.Many of the pieces I saw were beautiful， but far too expensive for someone with more dreams than money. However， one picture caught my eye. It was a bright yellow sun in a faded1 red frame2—fairly abstract3， more cartoon than art. A face was painted on the sun… blue eyes， big red mouth， turned upwards in a smile. It was happy， and looking at it made me happy.
4.A name was scrawled in the bottom left corner. Billy Williams.
5.Stepping back a little to study it further，I told myself I’d never spend money on a painting like that，because after all，I could paint one just like it if I really wanted one. There didn’t seem to be a lot of artistic talent，and in fact，it looked like a child had done it. If a child could do something that caught my attention，I could do the same thing，only better！
6.Yeah. That’s what I’ do. I’ll paint my own sun picture！
7.As I began to move away from the booth， something caught my ear. Was someone talking to me？I didn’t see anyone.
8.I stopped and looked at the picture again. This time， I saw a fellow in a wheelchair trying to get my attention.
9.“Like it？” I thought I heard him ask.
10.It was hard for me to hear him. The tent was crowded and very loud. I moved closer to him.
11.“ Do I like it？Yes，I really do，but…”
12.He started talking again， but it was hard for me to understand him. He talked very softly and slowly， drawing his words out to the point where my mind had a hard time following them.
13.“I like…to paint…，” he said.
14.“ Really？” I asked，noticing for the first time that there were many other paintings in his booth.
15.“I like your paintings very much.” I continued. “ How do you come up with so many things to paint？”
16.“It’s easy…” he replied. “Any…one can do… it. All you… have to do… is get an idea… in your head…decide…what you want… to do，and do… it.”
17.He then shared with me how he had painted the sun picture. The entire conversation took about 15 minutes. Fifteen painful minutes. As he struggled to get the words out and I struggled to understand them， I learned a lesson I have never forgotten.
18.“ How much for this painting？” I asked.
19.“Five… dollars…” was the reply.
20.I gave him the＄5，put my prize under my arm，and left.
21.It had taken Billy Williams 15 painful minutes to teach me a lesson I’ve kept close to my heart for the following 28 years. This awkward-looking young man，hands gnarled，legs twisted，tongue thick，had broken the code on a part of life I hadn’t even known existed.
22.The man who made one of the greatest impacts on my life is someone who will never know it. I’ve never seen him again.
23.He would never be able to overcome his physical challenges， but he had learned to deal with them. He had learned that doing what he wanted to do was simply a matter of getting an idea，deciding what he wanted the outcome to look like，and making it happen.
24.He said anyone could do it. He was right.

Care For Your Dream呵护你的梦想
1.My dream ended when I was born. Although I never knew it then， I just held on to something that would never come to pass. Dreams really do exist. But in the morning when you wake up， they are remembered just as a dream. That is what happened to me.
2.I always had the dream to dance like a beautiful ballerina twirling around and around and hearing people applaud for me. When I was young， I would twirl around and around in the fields of wildflowers that grew in my backyard.
3.I thought that if I twirled faster everything would disappear and I would wake up in a new place. Reality woke me up when I heard a voice saying， “I don’t know why you bother trying to dance. Ballerinas are pretty， slender little girls. Besides， you don’t have the talent to even be a ballerina.” I remember how those words paralyzed every feeling in my body. I fell to the ground and wept for hours.
4.We lived in the country by a nearby lake. I did not like to be at home. When my parents were home， my mother just yelled and criticized because nothing was ever perfect in her life. She dreamed of a different life but she ended up living in the country far away from the city where she believed her dreams would have come true.
5.I enjoyed hanging out by the water. I would sit there for hours and stare at my reflection. There I was， looking nothing like a pretty ballerina dancer. Reflections don’t lie. Once the waves would come， my reflection was gone. Washed away just like my dream to dance.
6.As I grew older， I began to realize that the reason my dream was even born， was because it was something that was inside of me. The dream I had was never nurtured and cared for， so it slowly died. It’s not that I wanted it to die， but I allowed it to die the day I started listening to the words， “You can’t do it.” When I finally woke up from many years of dreaming， I realized that you can’t settle for dancing in the wildflowers， you have to move on to the platform.

The Relation Between Restraint And Soaring约束与飞翔的关系
1.One windy spring day， I observed young people having fun using the wind to fly their kites. Multicolored creations of varying shapes and sizes filled the skies like beautiful birds darting and dancing. As the strong winds gusted against the kites， a string kept them in check。
2.Instead of blowing away with the wind， they arose against it to achieve great heights. They shook and pulled， but the restraining string and the cumbersome tail kept them in tow， facing upward and against the wind. As the kites struggled and trembled against the string， they seemed to say， “Let me go！ Let me go！ I want to be free！” They soared beautifully even as they fought the restriction of the string. Finally， one of the kites succeeded in breaking loose. “Free at last，” it seemed to say. “Free to fly with the wind.”
3.Yet freedom from restraint simply put it at the mercy of an unsympathetic breeze. It fluttered ungracefully to the ground and landed in a tangled mass of weeds and string against a dead bush. “Free at last” free to lie powerless in the dirt， to be blown helplessly along the ground， and to lodge lifeless against the first obstruction.
4.How much like kites we sometimes are. The Heaven gives us adversity and restrictions， rules to follow from which we can grow and gain strength. Restraint is a necessary counterpart to the winds of opposition. Some of us tug at the rules so hard that we never soar to reach the heights we might have obtained. We keep part of the commandment and never rise high enough to get our tails off the ground.
5.Let us each rise to the great heights， recognizing that some of the restraints that we may chafe under are actually the steadying force that helps us ascend and achieve.

1.Everyone—every person in this world has a Dream： a passion， a vision in their life that pulls them and urges them to move forward in life. You， my friend have this vision within you， it “whispers” to you occasionally， but in some cases it cries out. It cries out to be listened to and acted upon because this vision comes from your soul.
2.Within this “Inner Vision” there lies the magic of living your life with passion， fulfillment and purpose. This means being true to who you really are， and living your life on purpose with all the passion and energy you are capable of living.
3.When you live from your inner passions， you’ll never have to seek approval from other—you’ll “chart your own course” and be the master of your own destiny. More importantly， you’ll feel whole， connected and inspired.
4.Find your inner fire， your sense of purpose； this fire will help you harness strengths you’re not even aware you have. Be connected with your inner passions—your Life’s Dreams， and live that passion daily.
